Denzel's pay it forward

video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtxwLoXBXUo

Part 1
Pay it forward is an act of kindness towards others instead of the original benefactor.

Part 2
What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
Our pay it forward act of kindness was to bake desserts and sell them to our friends and family. All tthe money will be donated to the Winnipeg Harvest.

Why did you choose this activity?
We chose this activity because we want to help the people who are in need.

Who did you help?
We helped Winnipeg Harvest by donating all the money we earned from selling the desserts. We also helped the people in need that received the money.

What did you do?
Luckily after we baked the desserts I was going to a party, so I told the party about this project and sold all of the desserts to the people at the party.

When did you do this activity?
We baked the desserts on December 27, 2013. I sold the desserts on the same day. We donated the money on January 2, 2014

Part 3
How did your act of kindness go?
Our act of kindness went well because we had no problems and everything went according to our plan.

What happened?
After donating the money, Winnipeg Harvest gave us a receipt to show that we successfully donated the money.

How do you feel?
I felt like I've saved someone that was in need. I also felt like I've done a good thing.

How did the person or people react?
The people reacted in a positive way and they were thankful that we donated the money.

Did you ask the person to "Pay It Forward"?
Yes, we asked the people to pay it forward

How did they react to our request?
They said they were glad to pay it forward.

Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay It Forward" important?
The idea of "Pay It Forward" is important because even one simple act of kindness can change the world and make it a better place.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I didn't see our act of kindness make a difference but we might have saved some people in need because Winnipeg Harvest used our donation to help them.

Rose May's Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward 2014
Group Members:
Corinne, Alieha, Rose May, Marla Mae, Tiana, Joyce (8-16)

Part 1

What is "Pay It Forward".
Pay It Forward is an act of kindness towards a person (3 people). This means helping a person do something kind, then that person will hopefully do something kind to another person then it continues and spreads.

Part 2

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
My Pay It Forward act of kindness was to buy toys and make cards to donate them to the Children's Hospital with a few group members (Corinne, Alieha, Marla, Tiana and Joyce).

Why did you choose this activity?
We chose this activity because we wanted to start the new year with helping other people. We decided to give toys to the children because we wanted them to have something to play with and enjoy while they are in the hospital, and for the nurses we decided to give them letters because we wanted to show our appreciation and that they are very hard working, also that they help children who are in need.

Who did you help?
Our group didn't really help people, but we gave back by giving toys to children so they could play with it and enjoy there stay at the hospital. For the nurses we wanted to remind them that we are very thankful to have them.

What did you do?
What we did was go to the hospital and donate some brand new toys and give letters to the workers.

When did you do your act of kindness?
Our group did our act of kindness on Saturday, January 4, 2014.

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?
Our act of kindness went pretty well, but our plan was last minute. The workers were very surprised and very happy.

What happened?
We all met up at around 12:00 and we went to the third floor and saw a lady at the front desk. We asked her if we could donate some toys and give letters to the nurses but she told us that we couldn't give it to them in person because we might bother them and we can't just walk into there room but she was very kind enough to give the toys to the children and they thanked us.

How did you feel?
At first when I walked into the hospital I was a bit scared that something bad was going to happen and that we weren't allowed to donate toys to the children but we were allowed to and after giving them the toys and cards and seeing all the workers have a smile on there face. I felt really great! It was a fun experience but it went by quite fast.

How did the person or people react?
They were quite shocked and very thankful seeing us donating toys and giving the workers letters.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?
Yes we did tell them to Pay It Forward and we explained it as well.

How did they react to your request?
They were amazed and happy with our request, they also told us that they will definitely Pay It Forward as well.

Part 4

Why is the idea of "Pay It Forward" important?
The idea of Pay It Forward is very important because we want to make a difference and spread the word all across the world and also because some people in different countries all around the world don't have what we have, some people might not have water or not even education. Paying It Forward shows us that if we try we can make a difference. We might all have a smile on our faces if all did Pay It Forward! Even if its not that big of a difference you still tried.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I think our group made a difference but our act of kindness might not have been big but Im still really thankful that we donated toys and made workers smile by paying it forward Just by looking at their reactions I was very amazed and I really didn't expect that just by doing one small action.

Alieha's Pay it Forward

Pay it Forward

(Corinne, Alieha, RoseMay, Marla, Tiana, & Joyce)
Part 1

What is 'Pay it Forward?'
Pay it forward is when you do one act of kindness to a person or people (specifically 3) without anything in return, hoping that they will continue it and help even more people. It's when one person decides to change someone's life and that person doesn't pay them back, but instead pays it forward. One act of kindness that starts with one person continues and becomes something bigger than what was expected.

Part 2

What was your Pay it Forward act of kindness?
My pay it forward act of kindness was buying toys and books and donating them to the children's hospital. We also wrote thank you cards to the staff working at the hospital.

Why did you choose this activity?
At first we thought of giving them as Christmas gifts, but we didn't get enough toys. So we decided to wait until after Christmas and we used the money we got for Christmas to buy presents. This was our way of giving the kids new toys to start off the new year. Since we all got lots of presents, we decided to give presents for the kids who might have not gotten any. We also decided to make the 'Thank you' cards to show how much we appreciate their work and what they do and did for us, and everyone else. It's also amazing how they really enjoy their work because they know that they're helping other people so it makes them feel good. In other words, we were acknowledging them for paying it forward.

Who did you help?
We didn't really 'help' them, but we made the workers happy and hopefully the kids as well. It was more of a way of giving back because we already have so much, and I hope that this will let them forget their problems and just be happy, even for a little while.

What did you do?
We either bought some toys and donated them or made 'Thank you' cards to the staff at the Children's hospital. All 6 of us contributed and together, we had alot of things to give to the hospital. We told them that we were donating the toys we bought as well as giving them the thank you cards we made and they really appreciated it. We also explained to them what we were doing and what 'paying it forward' means.

When did you do your act of kindness?
We did our act of kindness at the Children's hospital on January 4, 2014.

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?
It went pretty well even if we went kind of last minute, but the workers there were very supportive and super nice. It went better than I expected even if we weren't able to give the presents to the children face to face.

What happened?
We met up at the place of the hospital where we could donate, but they said that it was closed on weekends. So we went to the Children's hospital and we went to the 3rd floor to donate the toys. Luckily, the lady at the front desk helped us out and we donated the presents and cards there. We told her about 'pay it forward' and what we were doing. She was amazed to see that we wanted to give them the gifts, but we weren't allowed to actually hand it to the kids, so the staff were able to hand it to them for us. Oh and we also got to take a picture with the staff there! They also thanked us before we left.

How did you feel?
Before we went, I was worried that we wouldn't be able to donate because things would go wrong but after giving them the toys and cards and just seeing the workers smile to see what we did, it felt great to know that they were happy that we did that for them. Especially since they weren't the most expensive toys, or cards that came from a store. They were something that personally came from us.

How did the person or people react?
They were shocked to see us giving things that came from us and it wasn't something that they would expect, especially not from kids. When they saw all the toys and cards together, they were amazed to see that just a couple of eighth-graders were able to do this sort of thing just to pay it forward. They really appreciated what we did, but even if we weren't able to see the kids reactions, we hope that they were happy when they got the presents they deserve.

Did you ask the person or people to 'Pay it Forward'?
Yes, we told the staff there that what we did was an act of kindness to continue the ripple effect, and that we think that they should help continue it as well.

How did they react to your request?
They were amazed about the concept of 'Pay it Forward' and they were glad to do it as well. They saw that we tried to do something to give back, and they were grateful to see that we were doing something to not completely make a difference, but just start a chain of kindness that will hopefully lead into it.

Part 4

Why is the idea of 'Pay it Forward' important?
It's important because if we looked around us, we notice that some people are hungry, some people are homeless, and some people struggle to live everyday. That's not the kind of world that we want to see. Paying it forward shows others that we can live in a better world if we tried. Just a small act of kindness that continues and grows into something much bigger. If one less person struggles or one more person has a smile on their face, it really shows that someone has made a difference, big or small.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
Well I'm not completely sure. If anything it made a couple smile and that's the start of it. So even if we didn't save a life, we were able to appreciate the ones who do. It wasn't a big act of kindness but it did feel really good. Giving back didn't only lift up their moods, but it also lifted up mine just seeing their reactions. Knowing that they were glad to continue where we left off, is amazing because who knows what they'll do to help. So I guess we did make a difference, a small difference, but maybe it will continue and will make a bigger difference someday, if not today.

Elyce Pereira's Pay It Forward

Elyce Pereira's Pay It Forward

Pay it Forward is when you see an opportunity to help someone or do something nice for someone. When you Pay it Forward, you do something for someone when you don't necessarily need to, but you just do it because you want to.
1. I am going to help 7 different people by giving them clothes that we did not need, or didn't fit my brother or I.
2. I am going to give clothes to people that my family did not need or did not fit.
3. I am going to go to the different peoples houses, or meet them somewhere if we are going to the same place.
4. I am going to do this first at my home by sorting the clothes from my family friends, then we are going to drop them off to the people.

It went well, and the people we gave the clothes to were thankful. We sorted the clothes we were given, and gave them to people that would benefit from them. I felt good to be giving people clothes that I no longer needed, or that would not fit me. The people reacted by saying "thank you" and acting very excited to be given clothes. Yes, we told them that if there were clothes that would not fit them, or they didn't like, that they should give them to people who would benefit from them. They reacted by saying that they would, and that they were thankful. My family and I do this at least once every 2 to 3 months. We also donated clothes to The Salvation Army that we didn't think would fit anyone we know.
My parents have taught my brother and I well by showing us what it means to Pay It Forward. An example is when my family and I were driving home from the pool and a woman driving was stuck in the snow on Cambridge. My dad, knowing how to get a car out of snow, pulled over and got into the ladies car to get it out. While the rest of us waited in the car, two other cars stopped to see if they could help, but then left when they saw that the car wasn't stuck anymore.

My family and I pay it forward regularly,  and I feel that recognition is not needed when you have paid it forward by taking a picture. I feel like a homework assignment is not needed, because if there is an opportunity to pay it forward, you will just do it out of the kindness of your heart, not by looking for a way to pay it forward because it is an assignment.

The idea of Pay it forward is important because if we lived in a world where people didn't pay it forward or do nice things for each other, we all wouldn't be as selfless or polite as we are now. We all don't need to pay it forward, but the fact that we do whenever an opportunity arises makes us all a lot nicer, and the world a better place.

Dave's Pay it Forward

Pay it Forward.
pay it forward is helping another out by doing good deeds to others and hoping that they would do the same to others.

My pay it forward act of kindness was giving cans to Winnipeg  Harvest. But not just any ordinary can. I put the words pay it forward on it and this drawing on it.

I chose this activity so that people the receive my cans can do the same to others. I helped others who needed food. I went to Winnipeg harvest to give cans hoping that the thing I did was going to work. i did the act of kindness December 28, 2013.

When i was giving the cans, I told the lady all about pay it forward and she said that she was happy on what our school was doing and how kind we are. i felt really happy and great that I did this. I felt really proud of myself.

The idea of pay it forward is by helping out each other and hoping that they would do the same to other as well. My act of kindness made a difference by helping out people in need and think that it will spread to others that would do it also.

Tiana's Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward!(Tiana, Rose May, Corinne, Alieha, Marla & Joyce of 8-16)

Part 1

What is "Pay it Forward" ?

Pay it forward; it’s an act of kindness, just ‘cause. Not because we want to look good, or seem as if we’re heroes. But we do it to feel good, no specific reason. We do an act of kindness, so that individual we paid it forward to, can pay it forward themselves. It’s basically like a ripple effect, when you do something nice, you feel good, others feel good and want to pass it on. Just like the lady at hospital said, “It’s not only good for that one person, but for everyone around you. It’s good karma”

Part 2

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?

My friends and I decided to go to the Children’s Hospital and donate toys and also give appreciation letters to the workers there. We all contributed and everybody had a great part in it. I personally wrote letters to the workers, expressing how I appreciate all of their hard work in helping others and to always keep a positive mindset especially in the New Year.

Why did you choose this activity?

The reason why we chose this activity was because we wanted to start the new year with helping others, for the kids who are currently in the hospital, we wanted to give them something to help them enjoy their stay at the hospital. As for the appreciation letters, I feel as if sometimes the workers who help out at the hospital don’t get much recognition, such as the people who work at the front desk, we just say a simple “Thank You” and are on our way. I wanted to give them a letter saying that I really appreciate how much they work just to help others!

Who did you help?

We didn't necessarily “help” people, instead we decided to give back. To a few kids who go through a lot, we wanted to give them a little present just to give them the little joys in life! Whether it is small, or big toys, it’s the thought that counts and although this wasn't thoroughly planned, we put a lot of thought into it. I also decided to give back to the workers there, the letter may not be extremely long, but I put a lot of thought into and made sure that every single letter was different to express my feelings, instead of just being repetitive.

What did you do?

We went to the Children’s Hospital and talked to a few workers there about Pay It Forward and explained that we had toys to give to the kids, and letters as well. Because we couldn't give used toys, a few of us decided to buy inexpensive toys and wrap them up! As for a few others and I, we wrote letters to the staff at the hospital. On the letters I wrote, there was always a message about appreciation, keeping a positive mindset, and smiling every day. We also got to take a picture with the kind staff there!

When did you do you act of kindness?

January 4th, 2013 was when this act of kindness took place. Although it was a little last minute, we were glad to give in our thanks!

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?

It actually turned out really well! I was a little worried in the beginning but once we talked to the lady who worked there, I was relieved. She was happy, the workers were happy and we all were as well. We had a little difficulty before actually going to the hospital because we found out last minute that old/used stuffed toys weren't allowed to be donated, but fortunately we came up with something to benefit everyone! In the end, all was well.

What Happened?

We all met up at the Children's Hospital at around noon, and once everyone arrived we headed to the second floor where we could donate our things. We first chatted with the lady at the front desk, explaining the whole "Pay it Forward" concept, saying that we had things we would like to give and she explained that we weren't allowed to personally give the children the gifts due to confidential reasons, but they were kind enough to give the kids our gifts. Also, when I told her that we also had letters for her and the other workers, they were more than happy to receive them! We also took pictures with the workers there.

How did you feel?

Before we even got to give our donations and letters, I was a little worried that something might go wrong and we weren't able to give anything. But I was relieved seeing the smiling faces of the workers, just with giving back I felt really great! It was a mixture of happiness and appreciation, because I wouldn't imagine myself doing that sort of thing, but having first-hand experience is a great feeling.

How did the person or people react?

The people were very ecstatic to receive donations for the kids; it’s not every day where you see kids donating to other kids. But something they didn’t expect was letters for themselves, they were very happy to receive them as well.  Some were very shocked as well, because once we gave them a batch of gifts and letters, there were more! Many gifts were given and they were filled with smiles by the end.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?

Yes, I explained the whole concept of “Pay It Forward” and they listened to everything I had to say and I was very happy about it.

How did they react to your request?

They understood everything and they even said that they would pay it forward; I felt that they were very touched by our request, even though it wasn't something huge, they were very thankful. They seemed a little surprised at the beginning that a group of students like us were participating in such activity. But they were very happy that we did and said they would definitely continue our act of kindness chain.

Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?

The whole idea of Pay it Forward is very simple, yet very important. You do an act of kindness, then that person does an act of kindness and keeps going on, a chain reaction. Because of that act of kindness you did, small or big, it'll create something even greater. Sure one person's act may be greater than yours, but by the end of the day, it's the amount of thought you put into it, the values that're all equal. It makes everyone feel great, inside and out, knowing that you're helping someone and they'll help someone else as well as the best feeling. It makes you become someone greater, and it helps you gain confidence in yourself, knowing that you can help create a great movement.
Has your act of kindness made a difference?

I think my group and I made a difference, maybe not a huge one, but once the kids see those gifts, and the workers read those letters, it'll definitely brighten up their day. It was really a great experience to have and see everyone happy. They were surprised to see us students come by, but I could tell they were very thankful and that makes me happy knowing that we can help out. Whichever way they decide to Pay it Forward, will contribute to our growing ripple effect, if they do it with a positive mindset and great goals, the turn out will be amazing.

Marc's Pay it Forward Project

Marc's Pay it Forward Project

Part 1

What is Pay it Forward?
Pay it forward is when you or anyone does a simple act of kindness to three people or more. For example, donate money, clothes or food to homeless people, hold the door for someone, give love to others, etc. Then after you payed it forward, the people you've helped has to do a simple act of kindness to three other people or more and it keeps going on and on.

This is what pay it forward looks like!

Part 2
For my pay it forward act of kindness is my group and I made a lot of puto. Puto is a really good Filipino dessert. After all the baking we each of us got 6 plates and sold it to our families and neighborhoods to raise money. Lastly we sold the putos we counted all the money we raised and donated it to Winnipeg Harvest. We knew that Winnipeg Harvest would definitely pay it forward.

My group and I chose to do this activity because we wanted the workers and the volunteers in the Winnipeg Harvest to help the homeless people with the money raise to get food, water, etc.

We helped the homeless people by giving the money we raise to Winnipeg Harvest.

What I did was the day after we got the puto I sold it to my parents and cousins then they asked "why are you selling puto?" and I told them about our project and what is pay it forward. Then I told them that we were going to donate all the money we raised from selling puto to Winnipeg Harvest.

My group and I did our baking on December 27,2013, we donated the money on January 2nd, 2014, I did all my selling between those dates.

Part 3
I think our act of kindness went very well because we didn't have any problems, everything planned out good from baking to selling to donating. Also the volunteers were very happy when we told them about pay it forward and donating all the money.

After all the baking, selling and donating one of the volunteers gave us a receipt proving that we donated the money.

I felt very great especially when I saw the look on one of the volunteers. She was very happy when we told her about the donation and what pay it forward is. I also had so much fun when we were making the puto.

When we came inside the Winnipeg Harvest we told one of the volunteers that we wanted to donate money for our school project. She was very happy to hear about the donation. They told us that we are very thankful for donating money and said that we are difference makers.

Yes my group and I told them what pay it forward is.

They told us that they were really happy to hear about the donation and blessed or glad to pay it forward to homeless people.

Part 4
The idea of Pay it Forward is very important because in one simple act of kindness can change into a big difference because it can be passed on to three or more people and it keeps on going. It all started by one person or group.

I can't see it changing from the start but I'm pretty sure that it has change after donating it to Winnipeg Harvest. I think Winnipeg Harvest gave the money already and maybe they used it for food, water or shelter. I don't know if we made a difference it by donating the money we raise to Winnipeg Harvest  but It will happen if they use the money.

Pay It Forward Denzel, Josh, Patrick, Marc

Aindrea's Pay it Forward

Part 1:

Paying it forward is when one person does a simple act of kindness for three people. The people that received the act of kindness will then pay it forward by doing an act of kindness for three other people and so on. A chain of people doing an act of kindness begins.

Part 2:

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
My act of kindness was giving toys and candy to kids that go to my church.

Why did you choose this activity?
I chose to do this act because my church is something very close to my heart (as cheesy as that sounds) I wanted to give something to my church but I didn't know what. My mom gave me the idea of giving toys and candy to the little kids after their lesson.

Who did you help?
I made the kids happier since they never expected anything after their lesson, so the treats and gifts became their reward for that day's lesson.

When did you do you act of kindness?
We bought the toys on January 4th and also wrapped them up on the 4th. I gave them to the kids on January 5th.

Part 3:

How did your act of kindness go?
My act of kindness went well. It was really fun and it made both the kids and myself smile.
What Happened?
My mom asked their teacher if I could hand out my treats and gifts for the kids and I waited for them to finish what they were doing at the time. I then came in to their room and explained to them why I was giving them gifts. I finished by handing out the gifts and candy. The candy was surprisingly shared throughout the whole church. (Even our pastor was eating candy.)

How did you feel?
I felt quite happy since the kids were smiling more than usual and the adults were walking around with gummy worms in their mouths. It was really funny to watch.

How did the person or people react?
The kids were kind confused since Christmas already passed and I was giving them presents, but after I explained they played with their toys and ate candy. Their teacher asked why I was doing such a random thing and I explained why. After I finished explaining she looked like she liked the idea of "paying it forward".

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?
I actually forgot to tell them to "Pay it Forward" so after their class when they were waiting for the church service to finish, I went up to them and asked them to "Pay it Forward"

How did they react to your request?
Some of the kids said "What does that mean again?" and I explained to them what it meant. Others smiled and agreed.

Part 4:

Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?
It is important because one simple act of kindness becomes one big change. Paying it forward is different because you aren't doing a nice gesture because you have to, but because you want to. After someone has paid it forward they didn't force others to do it but simply said "Pay it forward." It's an easy thing to follow, so the ripple effect moves quite quickly.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
All my act of kindness did was made little kids aware of Pay it Forward and put smiles on their faces. Some may count that as making a difference while others don't. To me it is because now they'll have the idea of paying it forward even though they're still young.

Joyce's Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward 2014
By: Corinne, Alieha, Rose May, Marla Mae, Tiana and Me (8-16).

Part 1:
Pay it forward is when someone you do an act of kindness towards specifically three people. You can help people just by helping them (opening the door for someone, donate toys to hospitals etc.). It's also when a person chooses to change the world just by helping people. The person they helped doesn't repay them but goes and helps someone else instead.

Part 2:

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
The pay it forward act of kindness I did was writing letters to the employees in a hospital. The hospital that I went to was Health Science Centre - Children's Hospital. I wrote on how hard they work on to take care of the kids that are checked in the hospital.

Why did you choose this activity?
I chose this activity because I wanted to thank the employees and nurse for their hard work towards the kids in the hospital. Also because I want the nurses to start a great new year

Who did you help?
I helped the employees/nurses in the Children's Hospital.

When did you do your act of kindness?
I did the act of kindness in January 4, 2014 with five of my friends Corinne, Alieha, Rose May, Marla Mae and Tiana.

Part 3:

How did your act of kindness go?
My act of kindness went better than I thought. I actually really enjoyed visiting the Children's Hospital.

What happened?
We went to the third floor of the Children's Hospital since they said that the other floors were closed. Once we arrived to the third floor, we went to the lady at the desk and told her that we have toys to donate and letters to give to the employees. She was completely surprised since we had lots of things with us and letters. We told her about the "Pay It Forward" project that we were doing and what it meant. She called the other employees to take a picture with us. She was definitely thankful towards us and asked us for the schools address so that they can send a letter thanking us for our donation.

How did you feel?
Honestly, I felt really stressed. When I found out that I couldn't bring old toys to the hospital, I got even more stress. So, that's when I decided to make cards for the employees instead. I didn't really make enough for all the employees in the hospital since I ran out of paper. Once I got to the hospital and gave them by cards, my stress was relieved. I felt calm and happy that time.

How did the person or people react?
The employees were grateful and thankful towards my group. When I realized that they were happy about it, I became really happy.

Did you ask the people or person to "Pay It Forward"?
Yes we did. We explained what "Pay It Forward" was and they said that they will pay it forward.

How did they react to your request?
They're reaction looked like they were really happy and grateful. They even said that they will pay it forward. They also said that they would send us a letter afterwards.

Part 4:

Why is the idea of "Pay It Forward" important?
I think the idea of "Pay It Forward" is important because it can change a persons life and change the world. Once the person's life has changed, they can decide to do an act of kindness towards another person.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
In my opinion, I kind of think it did. I think this because it can actually make a difference towards the kids and the employees. With the letters we gave to the nurses and the toys we gave to the kids, I think it can make a difference towards their lives. It may not be that different to the kids but I know that they're happy with the toys we gave them. Also, I'm very proud of my group for doing this even if not all of us can join in. I'm proud of myself and my group since I think that we did something really good.

Jalen's Pay It Forward

Part 1
What is "Pay it Forward"
"Pay it Forward" means to do  a random act of kindness to a person or to people. This means trying to help them do something and the person you help could help another person thus is what causes a ripple effect. When you do your act of kindness you have to say to "Pay it Forward".  This is the kind of thing to make someone smile and male their day.

Part 2
What was your Pay it Forward act of kindness?
My pay it forward act of kindness was for me to shovel my cousins house but since I live next door to my cousins house I decided to shovel both houses twice for my pay it forward.

Why did you choose this activity?
I chose this activity because people don't like to go outside because it's to cold so I figured it would be smart for me to shovel for other
                                                            people to make their day.

Who did you help?
I decided to help my cousins and my own family by shoveling their houses, example  passageways, backyards and garage entrance and stairs.

When did you do your act of kindness?
I did my act of kindness on December 29th and January 3rd because before January 3rd it snowed really hard and I wanted to shovel a lot more than I did on December 29th.

Part 3
How did your act of kindness go and what happend ?
My act of kindness went smoothly as it can be there was only a couple of times I had to have breaks because it was to cold.. I started from the backyard so we could be able to walk to the garage. After that i shoveled the garage entrances when it was all done I went to the front yard and I shoveled the walkways. Then I ended it off by shoveling the stairs.

How did you feel?
I felt very responsible and proud of myself when I finished shoveling the houses. It made me take huge step in responsibility. Now I know how people feel when they do something nice to other people, it is a great feeling to have inside.

How did the person react?
My mom was thankful that I shoveled outside for them because she knows it's really cold outside. For my cousins they don't know that i shoveled for them because i didn't tell them.

Did you tell the person to "Pay It Forward"? And how did they react to the request?
Yes I did ask my mom to Pay it Forward and she gladly said she would try to pay it forward for someone else. Right after I told her this she asked if there was a due date for pay it forward, and I said no, just do it when you.

If you didn't ask the person to "Pay it Forward, How come?
I didn't ask them to pay it forward because I didn't want to disturb them because they might have been doing something else important. Also I wanted them to think of who did this for them and why. Hopefully this would make them think to help somebody.

Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward", important?
I think the idea of pay it forward is really important because it's trying to make a difference in the world. Pay it forward is trying to help people or a person and that person or people have to try and help another person. This is what causes a ripple effect and the number of people will increase every single time. This is why I think Pay it Forward us important.

Has your act made a difference?
I think mine made a difference because after I shoveled my mom told me that I am going to shovel when my dad is working, but it made a difference for me because it made me think of how much we have and how much people don't have. This is an idea to make someone else smile. Another difference that I made was saving peoples time. Instead of shoveling they could do something else instead. So yes I think my act of kindness made a difference.

This is my Pay It Forward!

Marla Mae's Pay It Forward

Welcome To My Pay It Forward Project 2014

Group Members: Corinne, Alieha, Rose May, Marla Mae(Me), Joyce, and Tiana. Sargent Park 8-16

Part 1.

What is "Pay It Forward"?

Pay it forward is where you have to do an act of kindness to three people or at least one. The act of kindness you do to that person could be a simple thing like holding a door for them or even making a change in their life. After you pay it forward to that person, that same person now has to also pay it forward to three or at least one person and they do an act of kindness that can make an impact in that persons life, this then goes on and on. It changes the world and how we look at one another. The image below shows a diagram of how pay it forward works.
~Diagram Of What Pay It Forward Looks Like~
Part 2.

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?

My Pay It Forward act of kindness was that I purchased some new toys and then brought them to the Children's Hospital and donate them. I also went there with my group(Corinne, Alieha, Rose May, Joyce, and Tiana from 8-16) Some of us also made and wrote letters to the workers at the Children's Hospital and thanked them. We also explained to them what pay it forward was and asked them to Pay It Forward.

Why did you choose this activity?

Technically we chose to do this activity because we wanted the children in the Children's Hospital to start off the new year with some new things. We also wanted the children to know that more than just their family are there for them. We also chose to do this activity because we also wanted to show our appreciation to the workers at the Children's Hospital for their hard work, and to remind them that their jobs are important for watching over children's lives and helping them get better.

Who did you help?

My group and I didn't really help the children in the hospital, we technically just payed it forward to them with new things for the new year. We gave them toys so they could play with them in their room instead of just laying in bed worrying about what's going to happen to them. The toys were for them to enjoy and keep their mind off things that they're worrying about and to just have fun with their new toys. We also kind of helped the workers there to remind them that their jobs are very important and that we're really thankful to have them working there.

What did you do?

What I did was donate new toys to children at the Children Hospital with five of my friends. (Corinne, Alieha, Rose May, Joyce, and Tiana)

When did you do your act of kindness?

I did my act of kindness on Saturday, January 4th, 2013.

Paying It Forward at the Children's Hospital

Part 3.

How did your act of kindness go?

I think that my act of kindness went pretty good. We got to give the kids at the hospital new toys and show our appreciation to the workers that worked at the Children's Hospital. It was actually better than what my group and I expected because we weren't very prepared and organized when we planned our act of kindness. But overall we had a good time.

What happened?

What happened was we successfully donated the toys to the Children's Hospital. But I'll talk about the whole thing that happened when we were there. Most parts of the Children's Hospital were close but luckily some floors were open. So when we got to one of the floors and looked for a desk to see if we could donate the toys to the kids who were on that one floor. When we got to the desk, there was a kind lady and told us that we couldn't give the new toys to the children in person but that they would be glad to give it for us, which was good enough. The lady at the desk was also very surprised and over whelmed. We then took pictures of us paying it forward with the lady at the desk and some of the nurses that were free to take the picture with us.

How did you feel?

Doing this pay it forward project made me feel pretty proud of myself for accomplishing this project. Just seeing the smile on their faces shows that my group and I did a good deed. It made me want to do something like this again but next time something bigger and better. I also realized that little things like this will usually catch peoples attention and want to also do something similar, like what you did for them, which is paying it forward. This project overall was a great experience.

How did the person or people react?

The lady at the desk was very surprised and thankful for what we were doing. Other nurses and workers came closer to us to see what was going on. The lady at the desk then explained to the nurses that about us donating toys. Then the other nurses were also saying how they were glad that a group of young students like us were doing good deeds around the city.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?

Yes, we did explain what pay it forward was to the lady at the desk. It was later then explained to some of the other workers there.

How did they react to your request?

The lady at the desk was happy with our request and was glad to pay it forward. I'm pretty sure the other nurses were also going to pay it forward too. They were really thankful for what we did. I'm also pretty sure they are sending a thank-you letter to our school.

Part 4.

Why is the idea "Pay It Forward" important?

I think that the idea of "Pay It Forward" is actually very important because the way it works is pretty simple and people actually pay it forward everyday, some people just don't realize that they're paying it forward. But paying it forward is important because in the end we're all helping one another, either just in our community or even internationally. Being kind and doing pay it forward will bring all of us closer together and be able to work together. Pay it forward will change how we look at the world and how we look at each other.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?

I think that my group and I maybe made a difference emotionally to the kids and workers at the hospital. I don't think I really made a difference to the kids but I know I did something good and enjoyed doing it. As I said in one of my answers, I do want to do something like this again, but next time something bigger and better. So I think that my act of kindness didn't really make a difference but did effect more than a few people. All I I know is that I'm proud for what my group and I did.

And That's my Pay It Forward.

Manipal's Pay it Forward

Pay it Forward is a concept where a person performs a act of kindness to another or a group of people and that they do the same to another person or group of people and the process repeats.

My Pay it Forward act of kindness was volunteering at the Gurudwara (Temple) and helping set up plates for Lungar (food for all). I chose this as my Pay it Forward act of kindness because I believe in the Sikh religion which is based on equality which is what Lungar represents food for all, no matter what age, gender, social status or religion. I helped the people who were at the Gurudwara who listened to the entire service. I first set up the plates and spoons and I placed the cups and tissues and finally severed water( I do not have a picture of that unfortunately.). I did this act of kindness during Sunday morning on Dec.29 2013.

I think my act of kindness went well because I helped set up the plates and utensils pretty quick. I helped set up the plates and utensils and after everyone was seated I helped serve water. I unfortunately did not ask anybody about Pay it Forward because It slipped my mind. I appologise for forgetting to ask anybody about Pay it Forward.

I feel the concept of Pay it Forward is important because  its a simple concept in which a person does a an act of kindness to another and they repeat and it is a small way of making the world a better place. I feel like this may have made some people happy because I chose to help at the Gurudwara, though it may not help a lot, it may make some people thankful for things they can do easily.

Kris Gail's "Pay it Forward"

Part 1
Pay it Forward  is when you commit an act of kindness to at least 3 people or more. These acts of kindness could be really simple by just  donating money and clothing to those ones that needing them, or  by volunteering to community service, Winnipeg Harvest, etc. In return you could ask the people you help to do an act of kindness to 3 different people that the might know or not, by doing an act of kindness the other may follow your guide and do the same.

Part 2
My Pay it Forward kindness was volunteering on doing lighting crew at, and baby sitting one of my family friends kid.

I choose these activities because my parents told me that their friends are needing someone to watch their kids while their at work, and I really like kids and I know even thought its a small act it still can make  someones life easier.

I helped my mom's childhood friend to baby sit her baby while shes at work.

I change her diapers, put her in bed and etc. I baby sit for 3 days

I did my act(s) of kindness on December 25-27, 2013.

Nina's Pay it Forward

PART ONE
Pay it Forward is the process in which you commit small acts of kindness towards others. Those people must understand the meaning behind your act to be able to keep the kindness going. They will choose to be nice to others, just like you have done to them, and it will make an impact on the world. By committing your small act, others will also follow your guide and do the same. The kindness will keep spreading all because of that one person, YOU.

PART TWO
My Pay it Forward act of kindness was donating my family's old clothes that they no longer use to the Salvation Army Thrift Store, and to some people who happened to be outside the Siloam Mission building.

I chose this activity because I asked my parents what possible things I could do for this project beforehand and they told me that I should donate to help those of the less fortunate. I decided to donate something that people who aren't as lucky as us don't have. I knew that they would need it, especially in this weather.

I helped some people who happened to be outside the Siloam Mission building.

I offered some clothes to people to keep them warm from the snowy, cold weather and I gave them some if they accepted it.

I did my act(s) of kindness on December 27, 2013.

PART THREE
My act(s) of kindness went pretty good in my opinion.

At the Salvation Army, I asked the lady working there if she would accept my donation of clothing there. She told me that they were more than welcome to be taken in, and she thanked me for them.
At Siloam Mission, a couple of strangers accepted my offer of clothing. I allowed them to look into the several clothing bags I had and to take what they wanted. One man only took one shirt, while the rest took more. I asked him if he wanted to take more, and he told me that he was thankful for what he had and that he knew that others were in need of clothing too.

I felt proud of myself for helping those of the less fortunate. They reminded me to be thankful for what I already have, instead of wanting more, and that I should stop taking things for granted. I should think of others before myself if I ever want more than what I actually need.

The lady at the Salvation Army seemed impressed that a person at such a young age, such as myself, chose to bring in a donation. The people that I met outside of Siloam Mission were happy about receiving clothes, even if they looked worn out.

Yes, I've asked all the people I've met that day to Pay it Forward.

Some of them ignored my request but that's okay because the rest told me that they'd try their best to do so. One man at the Salvation Army overheard my request that I discussed with the lady, and he asked me if it was a school project and if I watched the movie. I stayed there for a while talking to the lady and man, discussing the whole Pay it Forward project to them.

PART FOUR
The idea of Pay it Forward is important because it teaches others that at least a small act of kindness can make a big difference in the world. It encourages people to do nice things for others, just like others have done to them.

My act of kindness might have made a difference. I am unaware of the whereabouts of the clothing my family once had, but it may be with people who were once in need of a new pair of clothing.
